PDI Product Guarantee:
We offer free exchange for every part against manufacturer defect for the parts-and-labor warranty period you publish to your customer.
To be eligible for exchange, both the original product and the replacement product must be purchased from PDI. If we do not have the identical replacement product on our shelf at the time, please contact the store and we will substitute or source the replacement product.
PDI Product Guarantee does not extend to defects caused by wearout, warp (rotor), corrosion, contamination, misuse, abuse, commercial use, racing, or failure to follow best practices. Guarantee applies to professional automotive repair facilities engaged in the business of installing and re-selling products to the vehicle owner. Guarantee is non-transferrable (extends only to the original repair facility and vehicle owner at the time of original installation).

Example 1:
You buy an alternator for $180 that takes 1.2 hours to install. You offer a 3yr/36,000 mile warranty to your customer and it fails within that window. This case would be eligible for up to $60 of labor reimbursement ($50/hr * 1.2 = $60).
Example 2:
You buy a rack and pinion for $240 that takes 3.5 hours to install. You offer a 2yr/24,000 mile warranty to your customer and it fails within that window. This case would be eligible for up to $120 of labor reimbursement ($50/hr * 3.5 = $175, but would cap at $240 *0.5 = $120).
Example 3:
You buy a rack and pinion, ball joints, power steering fluid, and a pair of wiper blades for a total of $396. The rack and pinion that takes 3.5 hours to install. You offer a 2yr/24,000 mile warranty to your customer and the rack and pinion fails within that window. This case would be eligible for up to $175 of labor reimbursement ($50/hr * 3.5 = $175, in this case the cap is $396 * 0.5 = $198).

Manufacturer Suggested Warranties:
Still looking for a little guidance on what to offer your customer? Here are some suggestions for when you can be pretty sure the item was manufactured correctly and properly installed. This is not the same as intended lifespan. This are general guides, adjust them to suit your customers and your market.
Why do we list last year's defect rate? First, we want to be open and honest about the performance of the product lines we carry. If a product line doesn't meet our expectations, we will evaluate its place in our portfolio. Secondly, any warranty (whether its an auto part or a vacuum cleaner) is a balance between expectation and exposure. By giving you both pieces of information, hopefully it helps you make a decision about what is right to offer your customer.
If you have questions about any of this information, please give us a call and we would be happy to help.
